Whoopsidaisy!

As anyone who reads my blog can tell (and I think there are a total of two people who might check it..) I dont frequently update it. Everytime I do go to update it...I forget my log in password and have to reset it...or so I thought. As it turns out, I wasn't typing my log in name correctly. Actually I never had it right to begin with. My login name is heberbaby instead of heRberbaby like the website. Whoopsidaisy:) Maybe if I would log in more frequently I would have realized this a while ago. Nonetheless now I know and all is well with the world...maybe I'll actually start updating this thing more often. It's always fun reading other people's blogs and getting updates on their lives....even when I haven't talked to them in a long time. For example, Jenna and Christine1 I stalk you through your blogs...now you know the truth:)
Well in case you are stalking me for an update in my life, I'll let ya know what' s going on. Currently I'm half way through a summer course "Current Economic Issues" only two weeks left! The class is pretty interesting. One of our text books is "Freakonomics" which uses regression analysis to show correlations between seemingly uncorrelated events. Early today I read chapter 4 entitled "Where have all the criminals gone?" It linked the legalization of abortion in Roe v. Wade to the decline of crime rates 20 years later. Interesting stuff if ya ask me. I'm also working at Heartland Bank and Trust Company. Besides the fact of sitting on my butt behind a desk with no windows in my area...I kind of like it. My co-workers are fun...I talk more than anyone, but what else is new:)
I'm also enjoying Cornerstone in the summer time. Tuesday nights are BBQ's, Wed. ultimate frisbee, and small group on thursdays. We are reading "Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire" I've read it before, but I'm excited to go through it with a group and since the book talks quite a bit about prayer we have been doing some praying ourselves. It's great! I believe in the power of prayer, I just dont always pray like I do. So having this community where we practice prayer on a regular basis is fabulous. Hopefully it'll become more of a habit in my life.
So that's a little bit of an update for now.....I'll try to be more faithful in keeping you all posted:)

Bears eat monkey, visitors shocked

A sloth bear attacks the macaque monkey.

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) -- Bears killed and devoured a monkey in front of horrified visitors at a Dutch zoo, officials and witnesses said.
Visitors reported that the grisly scene began as several bears chased the monkey, a macaque, onto a wooden structure at Beekse Bergen Safari Park.
They said a bear tried unsuccessfully to shake the monkey loose, ignoring attempts by keepers to distract it. The bear then climbed up and grabbed the monkey, mauling it to death and bringing it to its concrete den, where three bears ate it.
The park confirmed the killing. "The habitats here in the safari park are arranged in such a way that one animal almost never kills another, but they are and remain wild animals," it said in a statement.
The attack occurred in an area of the zoo that contains both monkeys and sloth bears, a type of black bear found in the Asian subcontinent.
The park said it plans now to move the macaques to another part of the park.

Anyway, I started my new job at Heartland Bank. It's strange being an "adult" working 8-5 and having to wear business casual. Makes me grateful for classes at 10 and sweatpants. But it's not all bad--I will hopefully get a paycheck:)

What have I gotten myself into?

I've been thinking about starting a blog for some time now. You know, jump on the bandwagon and get my thoughts out there. I may not be that interesting or even that faithful in keeping this bad boy updated, but sometimes I just have random thoughts that I want people to know. In all reality I really just like talking--and this is a great way to "talk" without forcing people to listen to me. I'm feeling the pressure already to be a "super blogger" (Thanks Rob Bell and Jonathan for that term:) Great another addiction/form of procrastination! (Hence why I waited until after finals were over) So this is just a practice post...a warm up of great thoughts and profound words to come; don't get too excited....
